Puma concolor

This is the original sketch of the first layer of a display to go into the McCollom Science Hall on the University of Northern Iowa campus. The next layer will be a skeletal/muscular system, then a cell, then DNA, then an organic molecule (probably some sugar or a fatty acid of some sort).

There was a bit of debate over whether the mascot "Panthers" referred to a black Jaguar or an extremely confused Puma which is an entirely different genus altogether. I was going for a jaguar because they ARE panthers, but when you're "working for" someone you have to do what they tell you to.

This will be a Puma on the Panthers campus. I wish him luck in the jungle.
